Are you sure they changed the Microswitch or PNP switch? 850 1994

When the PNP switch goes bad, the transmission goes to "limp home" mode and the blinking up arrow comes on. More info on this common problem is also at Volvospeed Bay 13.

The microswitch is the switch that controls the shift lever (which sounds like your problem). If they fixed your microswitch and it failed again, may be it's still under warranty.
