Have a code.... 850

Check engine light went on and a 4-4-3 was recorded...I clear the code and it comes back, but not for about 4 days.

This is supposed to mean that the cat converter is not being efficient. My mechanic said he needs to see it, but said this can also means an O2 sensor is failing. I know where the rear sensor is (near the cat), but where is the front sensor? Maybe I have them confused.

I've NEVER had to replace a cat converter, so it sounds a little fishy to me.

Anyone had this problem?

Thanks,

DP
