Get it done now! Make sure they pay for it. It is a costly repair and it will only get worse. I have only heard of 1998 cars doing this, never a 2000. Once it gets real bad, it looks like you know what. I can't believe Volvo never had a recall on this. Instead, they rather charge their customers $400 to repair it after you bought their $35,000 car. Doesn't make much sence.
