Oil leak V70-XC70 1998

I'm not sure about this. I have found oil under the cover too, but it is not from a leaky cap, or careless oil pouring - it seems to be a part of the design. I've cleaned mine a few times, but always find very small pools of oil in the little wells running along the top. Anybody know what this is all about?
