A bad micro swith (not making contact) will result in the shifter not going out of Park. If the switch is shorted, then it will come out of Park with no brake. A test might be to disconnect one terminal of the micro switch and see what happens. If it works normally, the the switch is the bad guy. If not, then there is a short somewhere else in that circuit.
