After service light turned off, how long before OBD fully resets? V70-XC70 1998

Tried the procedure recommended above. Real fun and virtually impossible to do in Los Angeles. After doing twice, my car still failed the smog readiness test.

The local dealer wants $200 to do the reset on a dyno.

I'm just wondering if anyone knows how long it should take to reset just driving it around for a few days. Will it reset on it's own? How many miles would you recommend driving? etc.
