Reliability of 2004 S80 (a little more) S80

For company use I have purchased Ford Taurus'. The headlights on those things are really dim-bulb sorry excuses for lighting. So I just about fell for Xenon headlights thinking that since Ford now owns Volvo, the lights must be crap.

Turns out I needn't have been concerned. the S-80's lights are quite bright. Low beams cut off sharply. I pulled up and parked with high beams once recently. A couple on the sidewalk commented that the headlights could have burned spots in there eyes.. The std. lights are fine. The lights are on all the time the car is running. I assume I will be buying bulbs more often.

I did fall for the cd changer in the trunk. Partly based on my own misunderstanding of that 4 disk changer in the dash. and also from reading that if a disk ever gets caught in there the radio goes out and back to some factory. That was something the Volvo mechanic mentioned to me. I got it at near their *alleged* cost after threatenng to go aftermarket. If you buy one, don't go aftermarket. The one Volvo sells fits very nicely in it's own bracket out of the way and there is a software upload that goes with.

It sounds like a minor detail and it is, but you will be swearing at that stupid ignition key they give you. There is no secure way to attach it to a key chain. That little wire on the side lasted about a day. Others have complained in forums. It is a leading candidate for re-design.
