Cooling fan comes on when engine is cold 850 1997

Cooling Fan comes on immediate when engine is stone cold - temp gauge also goes immediate to half mark. check engine light comes on.

Have replaced coolant temp sensor and thermostat in sequence cleared computer fault condition each time - problem returned after each repair.

The fan will stop running after warm out and cycle normal while driving. The engine does not overheat and fluid level is normal.

Any suggestions?
