We have a 95 850 sedan and just bought a Scamp Trailer that weighs about 1100 lbs. When we bought it on vacation, we called the Volvo dealer where we were, (Monterey, Ca.), asking about getting a tow package put on. The service tech's response was that he wouldn't recommend towing ANYTHING with a Volvo, and besides, they didn't have the parts! He said we'd probably blow the tranny, and that would cost us $3,000! So,believing the service guy god, we rented a U-Haul on short notice, and travelled down Hwy. 1 with that little trailer looking like a bunny tail on the 24ft.! U-Haul for 500 miles!
Well, the dealer here says-hey no problem! The manual says it can tow 3300 lbs!
A good friend who's a sea captain says the tech in Monterey is right-because there's front wheel drive on the volvo...
We're unsure who is right???? Our old Ford truck is really uncomfortable for long trips and doesn't have airbags, etc., but we'll tow it with that if we have ta! Any opinions out there? "preesh"
