I flushed my 2001 1.9T a couple months ago. Its not too bad a job. S/V40s have an external oil cooler (mounts next to the intercooler between the AC condensor and the radiator). The lines come out the bottom so you can't get to them very well.
The procedure, according to VADIS (which I followed), is to disconnect the line coming out of the top of the transmission. VADIS recommends removing the battery and tray to get to it. Its kind of a PITA since you have to reinstall it to perform the flush, but its still not a bad job. Put a clear plastic hose on the line you disconnected and stick the free end in to a calibrated container. You need to carefully measure how much you remove.
Drain the transmission and replace the drain plug (it uses the same washer as the engine oil drain). Make sure you measure how much you drain out. Add two quarts via the dipstick hole and start the car. As soon as you see bubbles in the plastic hose, shut off the car. Add two more quarts and repeat. Make sure you keep track of how much you have drained and how much fresh oil you have left (so you have enough for the final fill).
The transmission holds 8 quarts. I used 12 to flush and fill. I wish I had had two more quarts. Still, it was pretty clean when I was done. I used Redline ATF D4, btw. Great stuff.
