I would say a 95 or 97. Note that Ford still has not
impacted the current products due to the long design cycle
for vehicles. You could go for a 70 Series and reliabilty
would be the same as the 850s.
96's have a few more electrical problems.
The engines are very reliable and easy to maintain. You
should not have to go inside the engine. The bolt-on parts
are more troublessome. AC problems are high on the list
for all years (and it is not a do-it-yourself repair).
Most other problems the car might have can be handled by shade
tree mechanics without too much difficulty.
