Can't help you with how it is all connected - I would like to know how it all works myself and the Haynes manual I have doesn't go into the operation of it all. I found out from the service records of the '98 S70 which I now own that the hydraulic modulator was replaced under warranty. Don't know what the symptoms of failure were in that case.
