Imagine a 20 thousand mile oil filter. Must cost huge bux and have ten o rings ;) The Mini has a 10K interval, but the brain figures how you drive and adjusts the interval with a countdown readout. My boss's GMC truck does the same thing. Is Detroit copying the Germans? Say it ain't so.
