Rear brake Pad replacement squealing terribly... 850

I didn't know they had ceramic pads for the rear. Did you use new rotors? The squealing may just be from new pads on an old rotor surface, needing to break-in. I just used the shims with no paste, worked fine, but I used new rotors. The book says to grease both sides of the shim, seems kinda hard if one side has adhesive on it though.

"Removal & Installation (Rear)"
1) Raise and support vehicle. Mark position of wheel in
relation to hub for reassembly reference. Remove tire and wheel. Using
a 3-mm drift, knock out retaining pins. Pull out retaining spring.
Remove brake pads and shims. Use Puller (999 2917) if brake pads are
difficult to remove.

2) Grease shims on both sides with a thin coating of
silicone. Install shims on brake pad plates. Install NEW brake pads.
Replace one retaining pin and retaining spring, then replace other
retaining pin and retaining spring.

I would try the paste on the outside of the shim (the side without the adhesive...) and see if that helps. Rotors are cheap though. Good luck ......
