Why would one need to replace a control arm?? 850 1995

db and Frank, thank you for responding.

I trust you guys and what you are saying.

I don't know if I will keep this car more than 3 years or 36k miles, and to replace everything OEM may be more costly than I can afford, or want to put into this car.

I saw in another post somewheres that you could expect a Scan Tech Sway Bar Link to last around 30-40k, while expecting a Volvo OEM one to last around 80k.

My question in general (control arms, tie rod ends) is, if I go with Scan Tech, how much life expectancy can I get compared to Volvo OEM?

Considering what I listed in my initial post (and what y'all added)... is there something else I should consider replacing, or is there anything I am replacing that I probably don't need to?
