Trunk troubles 850 1994

My trunk all of a sudden closes real fast, last week it worked fine, this week it seems like it's hard to lift, and slams shut- it fell on a mechanic I had doing an alignment and putting on winter tires the other day. It's like the pistons are working backwards. Did I bend something when I put my tires in there , or do these things wear out? Any ideas, I'd appreciate it.
