Volvo uses a wheel mounting system that is called "Center-pilot" or something like that.
This means that a snug fit between the center hole in the wheel and a collar on the hub holds the wheel in its proper location.
As was suggested, just give the tire a whack and the wheel should come loose.
Each season, I clean and wax the hole in the wheel, and clean the hub collar and the surface that the wheel touches on the rotor. I also clean and wax the surface on the rear of the wheel that contacts the rotor.
