Coolant addition 850 1997

First, if you got the car in Nov. 2001, and it has the same coolant in it now, then you should drain and flush the system and replace with new coolant and water. I think that 2 years is the recommeded time interval for coolant changes - that is what I have always used. I have also read that some non-Volvo coolant brands are fine for Volvos. Prestone and Zerex were two of those brands I remember and I have always used Prestone in my 740 and my 850 without any problems. I'm sure that distilled water is probably better for the system, but I have always used tap water.
