bump strips (?) S40-V40

Hi!

I don´t know the right word,
but i hope you´ll understand what i´m talking about.
Does anyone know are those plastic strips glued on the doors?
I´m thinking to take them off, if there isn´t any holes under.
I think the car looks much better without those nasty things.
I´m going to get new paint job for my ride.
