I've just bought a used engine for a '95 850 Turbo that was supposed to have low miles and it arrived covered in grease and grime with holes in the oil pan, numerous bent parts, holes in nearly every hose that wasn't cut off, cracks in the timing belt housing, and a couple sensors under the intake that have different wiring from what my old '95 engine. The engine was sent from a different place than where I bought it from (both out of state and different states) and the invoice arrived with oil smudging the reference and PO #'s so they are unreadable. I asked for an engine from a '95 850 Turbo numerous times and was told that it was, but I have strong doubts.
I'm planning on bolting on the transmission to do a compression test
So, a couple questions for whoever can help me out here.
1. Where are the useful identification #'s on an 850 Turbo engine? I see lots of numbers and don't know what any of them mean - other than the B5234T stamp on the back of the head.
2. Is there any information that can be looked up based on these identification #'s?
3. I welcome any comments on the situation, including and especially the state the engine arrived in.
Thanks!
