That water loss is not normal. Make sure you have a blue-green coolant cap. The older ones are known to leak. You are losing anti-freeze and water and should be topping off with a 50/50 mix, distilled water and Volvo antifreeze. Yes, you may add antifreeze to bring that level back to about 50/50 but it's not urgent.
