Yes, that's the normal clip and yes, you pry it apart and sometimes it breaks. You don't have to hold it open while pulling, it's not a spring. I respectfully disagree with advice to remove transmission end. Harder to get to, battery is in the way, and the cooler will gravity drain its small contents or you can blow into the opening with the hose out if you wish.
