I had the same problem.

Remove the lock assembly from the door as indicated. But, don't do anything else.

Get some PB'laster and spray in and around the micro-switch on the latch. Then work the switch back and forth 20-25 times.

I did this to the switch on the LR door years ago and the problem has not returned.
