Replacing 850 blower motor 850 1996

I have the electronic controlled climate control in my T5
and the dash LEDs for the AC and recirc (as I recall) started
flashing and the blower fan motor shut down. This would happen at
each engine restart. So, in my case it was obvious. In general,
the LEDs flash when the system detects a fault. But I'm not sure
if that applies to all climate control systems or just the
fancier "electronic controlled" version that I have.

Its a pretty common problem and a search on the archives will find
other indicators (like noise).
