Radar Detectors

I am aware the owning and operating a radar detector in your vehicle is illegal in Virginia and DC. The two primary places where I do my driving. I want to buy a valentine one, and want to know if any of you have experienced any problems using a valentine one or similar high end radar detector in the dc/ VA area? any experience with the police? confiscation? what can they do? i know the V1 is VG-2 cloaked, so cops have to visually SEE the detector - but do they do anything about it?
