The fact that the dealer will not repair the check engine light is a red flag. The $350 allowance may not be enough to cover the repair and he knows it.
Stay away from this heap and this dealer. There are plenty of one or two owner Volvos with maintenance records available. If you want a Volvo take the time to buy the right one, preferably from the current owner.
