Brake lights on when the car is not running. S80 1999

Last time this happened to me it was just after an accident; the force of my braking had bent the brake pedal assembly forward (a bit worrying for a Volvo!)...

To stop your battery going flat there is a dedicated brake light fuse under the bonnet you can remove.
