Interesting problem.
I do know this, there was a retrofit kit called an after-blower that was installed to eliminate moisture around the evaporator. This was used to prevent the growth of mold and mildew. The fan would continue to blow even after turning off the ignition. Many of the newer models have this feature from the factory!
Maybe your car has one!?!?
