Patulous--you have a self-dianostic system on that car, an LED readout under the hood that will give you a three-digit code that you can reference and which will point you in the right direction of where to start. Get somebody to read the little blinking flashes that translate into numbers for you if you don't know how. A Haynes or Chilton's Volvo manual will tell you how to read the LED flashes and give you a list of the three-digit codes so you can look it up. It's very simple and once you know you can do itself.
