Uh Oh....It happened to you too, huh? I've read a couple of other posts about this happening lately, but don't remember if it was on this site or not. When it happened to me a couple of years ago it was difficult finding the solution. Problem (as you well know) is that there are not screws that you can losen anywhere to get the bracket off that clicks on the inside of the door that is keeping the door from opening.
Here's what you do. You'll have to carefully pry the door open wide enough to get a hack saw blade in the crack and cut the two post like pieces of the bracket. So you don't bugger up the vinyl-like surrounding of the door, tape it up with duct tape (or something) to protect the door before you start. Once the posts are cut through you'll be able to get the door open. Your Volvo dealer sells the post-like bracket that you will replace the broken one with. Re-installing is very easy. Good luck!
