Asking for an experienced tech at the dealer? 850

Today, Volvo requires that all dealers have at least one master tech and you can tell any service writer that you only want that tech to work on your car. You can also ask a writer to see if you can meet and talk to that tech in person. That way, it'd be pretty unlikely that they'd then dispatch your car to another less trained, less experienced tech.
Now, as for 20+ years of experience like me, guys like us are now a rare and dying breed in new car dealers as many experienced techs "luck out" and somehow escape the dealers (my dream now too) and technically by Volvos new standards, a "master tech" can now be a kid with only 2 years of Volvo dealer experience who just finished a 4 month Volvo sponcered crash coarse and passed all 8 ASE tests.
So...Volvo then created yet another term for even more experienced techs, an "expert tech" which is a master tech who has 5 years of Volvo dealer experience, passed one more ASE test (L1) and a few more Volvo related courses. Volvo does not require that any dealer has to have an "expert tech" so not everyone bothers to take the extra tests.

One thing's for sure, if you don't insist that your car is only to be repaired by their best, most experienced tech, it's likely to go to someone who might be less than steller (not very good).
