V70 radio V70-XC70 1998

Hmmm. now you've got me thinking. The procedure I am describing I S
different than the simple battery disconnect stereo reset procedure.

But... You said you need to remove the unit from the dash, and I assumed that
you were going to fully disconnect the unit from all the cables and wiring
harness. Therein lies the difference. When I removed mine, I
disconnected all wires and walked away from the car with the unit in my hands.
(I was taking it somewhere for service).

Ahhh. that's it. When I put it back in, I didn't even get the
_enter_code_ prompt until it was reconnected and ignition set to position I
(II ?) for 2 hours. Then the CODE prompt appeared. I have no idea why
they do this, except to make it a PITA for Sir Theif.

I remember all this because I asked security to keep their camera on the car
for 2 hours while it was sitting there, easy prey. If you don't pull the
wires or disconnect the battery you won't even SEE the CODE prompt.

What are you pulling it for ?
