My 850 has 140,000 miles, but I still like the car and prefer it's look to the newer models. (my 3rd Volvo). Like you, I'm not a mechanic. I do keep mine maintained, but at this stage (10 years old) I go to an independent and furnish my own parts. I get them all on line -- some are used. I replaced my heater fan for only $89.00 - a new bosch(+ labor). The mechanic said it was better than the original (I guess two manufacturers supplied the fan). I had the dealer replace a fan on my '87 240 and still remember it was about $400.
