It's not quite that simple. To begin, the receiver (if the car is equipped) is located behind the glove box, to the right. The blank cover that you are refering to I am assuming is in the dead centre of the dash at the windshield? If so, that is where the LED is mounted that signals the alarm system and also doubles as a temp sensor for the ECC.
