'Cough' during idle and regular driving 850

In addition to what has already been suggested, checking the spark plugs, rotor, plug wires, and distributor cap, you may want to try this relatively inexpensive method.

If you have been using some cut-rate gasoline, some deposits may have accumulated on your fuel lines, injectors and combustion chamber. Pour a bottle of STP Complete Fuel Injection Cleaner into the fuel tank at the next fill up and you will see better result, and may cure the "cough" of your vehicle.

Try using brand gasoline, such as Chevron, Mobile, Texaco, Exxon, Shell, etc. Avoid Citgo, Arco, or no-name gasoline. You need only 87 octane.

For my Volvo vehicles, I have made it a routine maintenance, to run a can of BG44K in the fuel tank every 15,000 miles, and do a combustion chamber cleaning at the same time. If BG44k is hard to obtain, substitue the aforementioned STP Complete Fuel Injection Cleaner for both the combustion chamber cleaning and one in the fuel tank. Since the STP product is easily obtainable at chain stores or even at Wal Mart, you can use that every 4000 miles in the fuel tank.

I hope this helps.
