coolant light smoke and leak, please

Sorry for your loss :-) For the first instance, it is not unusual for coolant to be low after a recent flush. Some pockets of air work their way out. Then, with a loose or missing cap, coolant will boil out until the cap is replaced. The temp guage staying normal is your good news. Probably no harm done to the engine.
