The lite was probably not reset when the service was done so it came on when the interval passed from the prior service. You can reset it yourself easily.
This is from an old post on this board.
Ignition in position I, (accessory) press and hold the trip reset button and wait for the trip mileage to set to zero. Turn the key to pos. II, and watch the trip miles. When the previously displayed miles reappears, release the button.
