Trans problem 850 1993

'93 850 GLT-Car will only move forward if engine reved to higher rpms.Seems to occur and get worse as car heats up.(was able to drive car onto trailer to get it home after car had sat for about an hour)Retrieved code 232 from A1 plug.(Speedometer signal missing)
Any suggestion and help would be appreciated before I go looking for causes in the morning.
