If that is the original battery, it is old enough that a single full discharge could certainly be the last straw. Changing batteries at 5 years is highly recommended by lots of serious groups such as the Mercedes chat groups where they often deal in 20-30 year holding periods for the cars. I have done that for some time now, with the exception of our '98 XC, which needed a new battery at about 4 1/2 years. Remember that the newer the car, the bigger the load on teh battery all of the time, even whin car is off.
