There is no law in Canada that requires the use of daytime running lights. As of 1990, the federal government passed a law that all new cars sold must have DRLs, however there is NO law that requires you to use them. On my 850, I modified the switch if I want to turn them off. I wrote an article about the very subject including quotes from the Ministry of Transportation, Ontario. The article was published in the Toronto Star Newspaper and the Canadian Volvo Club newsletter. For example, the police were the first to ask about the law because they want to turn off their lights when parked and doing under cover work, at the same time with the engine running!....
