Sounds like the master brake cylinder to me also. If you are in the Washington DC area, try Olympic Imported Parts. They service many of the repair shops in the DC area, are very reasonable in price, and the reps are very knowledgeable. I have used them for my Volvo, Miata, and previously for my BMW. I have no affiliations with them, only a pleased customer. For some cars, you can get master brake cylinder rebuild kits which are very inexpensive. A rebuilt master cylinder for my BMW was under $200.
