A/C problem 850 1996

I have a '96 850 Turbo with 165,000 miles. I recently moved to Texas from New York this past summer only to find that the a/c wasnt working properly. I took it to the dealer and they replaced the evaporator, blower, accumulator, and a number of hoses, it was quite an expensive deal. Now that it's spring ive started using the a/c again. Now it will blow cold when I first turn it on for the day, however after about 1/2 hour to 45mins it will start blowing warm air and wont come on again unless i turn it off for about five minutes and turn it back on again. It also seems to vary when I go on long driving trips on the highway it seems to last longer than if im stopped in traffic... ive found that if i turn it all the way up and am driving on the highway it will last for about 3 hours, but it gets cold as hell. I read somewhere on the message board about a pressure/temp trip switch on the compressor that could be bypassed... think that would help, or does anyone have an idea what else could be going wrong, i dont want to have to spend a fortune at the dealer again.

Thanks,
John R.
