It's been a long time since I installed my aftermarket lamps but I remember the relay plugged into the same harness (which had three different terminals and is tucked under the dash) shared by the switch and the other harness running along the left front fender. I also remember the off/on switched the ground not the "hot" source. I wrote an article about it years ago, if you want a copy, email me.
