I used a set of Spring Compressors that I bought at an Autozone store several years ago. They look similar to IPDs and have the retaining pin. They worked well on the Volvo springs.

In terms of the HDs versus the Touring, it really depends on your goals for the car. If you search the forum for Bilstein, you will find numerous opinions.
