Engine ticking 850 1994

I went thru this problem for about 6 months of trial and error to figure out the problem. I thought it was due to the oil being low and added half a quart which helped a bit but the problem restarted a month later. Initially my mechanic changed to a heavier weight oil which helped a bit but the problem recurred. It turned out to be an oil pump seal which was leaking which he replaced and no problems since then.
