Is it time to change an anternator? 850 1995

I would not -the noise itself is not a big problem, if the charging system works fine. Also, it may be something else too-PS pump, drive belt or timing belt tensioners, AC clutch or water pump.
I bet the dealer charges no less then $400.00 for the job, may be more.
