I guess i used about 12 hog rings. 4 along the bottom and 8 up.
Yes, i disconnected the cable, layed it out on the ground, and smacked the center with a hammer. If you do it, lay it out on something smooth. I layed it out on the pavement, so now the cable housing is a little damaged. Fortunately, the cable works anyway.
