If you want the tranny to last you need to flush ASAP and every 25k miles afterwards, regardless of what volvo says. Remember oil burns and loses its lubricating properties with heat and time.

Dexron 3 ATF is fine and cheap compared to synthetic, if you stick to the 25k miles plan.
