I had the *exact* same thing happen on my 96. I opened my sunroof on the interstate to wave to a friendly trucker who loved my Volvo so much that he wanted to get as close to the rear bumper as possible.
Apparrantly when I opened the sunshade, I slammed it and *one of the four spring loaded retaining clips* clicked and let the sunshade pop above the sunshade rail.
I opened the sunroof to it's open position. I pulled down on the front edge of the sunshade to bend it, allowing it to slide past the glass/metal sunroof. From there I pried the sunscreen forward until it was in the closed position with the sunroof open. I depressed the two front springloaded retainers, and pulled it forward until the rear retainers were visible, and depressed them as well.
The sunshade came out, and the sunroof closed, excluding one side of the "drip rail?"... If anyone knows how to reattatch this by the way, please speak up, as it's disturbing.
Hope this helps you in your quest for closednes.
