V40 coolant too cold? S40-V40 2000

Tarable

Good news

On the 2000 S40 (US) the sensor is attached to the Thermostat housing. Look for the thermostat and you will find a wire coming out of the housing. That's it. I too would replace the stat when and if you do decide to replace the sensor. It is a thermistor in a sleeve which can get gummed up if the previous owner didn't replace the coolant like they should. It just may need cleaning. A dirty probe might have a film or crust on it thereby insulating it from the coolant. Thus making it LOOK like a cooler temperature to the computer.

Bad news

You can't get a manual for the 2000 model. What I finally did find, was a '99 model year manual from Haynes. It is SOOOOO similar that you can do anything except for the ECM codes. They were not available at the time of printing for this book.

You might want to try IPDUSA.com to see if they still have the '99 manual.

Good Luck

Miker
